Isabey have been making handmade artists’ brushes since 1895. The skills required to manipulate the fine hairs by hand have been passed down from one generation to the next, with each brush shaped during assembly, without cutting, to respect the natural qualities of the hair.
RAPHAËL BRUSHES Founded in Paris in 1793 and owned and operated by the Sauer family since 1859, Raphaël is the oldest fine art brushmaker in Europe. Following the tradition of master and apprentice, the highly skilled craftswomen of Raphaël train for years before they are ready to produce a finished brush.
