This month, we took a look inside the sketchbooks of illustrator and ceramist Evie May Adams , which became our most-read article of June. Evie May delighted us with her whimsical drawings inspired by the history, landscape, and antique objects of her coastal English home. I loved the way she uses her sketchbooks as a personal compendium of symbols that feed directly into her ceramics practice. From sea creatures and medieval hounds to ramshackle churches and native flora, the motifs used in Evie's sketchbooks embody a strong sense of locale and reflect the importance of creating work that remains authentically her.
