RAPHAEL & ISABEY BRUSH SALE French brushmakers Raphael and Isabey both make fine art brushes using traditional methods passed down by many generations. Each brush is handmade by skilled craftspeople using the highest quality materials.
RAPHAEL BRUSHES Founded in Paris in 1793 and owned and operated by the Sauer family since 1859, Raphael is the oldest fine art brushmaker in Europe. Following the tradition of master and apprentice, the highly skilled craftswomen of Raphael train for years before they are ready to produce a finished brush.
ISABEY BRUSHES Isabey has been making handmade artists’ brushes since 1895. The skills required to manipulate the fine hairs by hand have been passed down from one generation to the next, with each brush shaped during assembly, without cutting, to respect the natural qualities of the hair.
